I have i Mac 2017 (retina 21.5) several weeks ago i split fusion and replace 1TB hdd with SSD (Samsung 860 EVO)

as a result i have right now 2 HDD Samsung SSD formatted as APFS and apple small 32GB HDD also formatted as APFS.

Running Sierra 10.13.6 (updated). Samsung set as startup disk OK.

here is the problem. System refuse to boot from cold boot (Ex: if i shutdown the system over night) next morning it require effort to boot it up, need to hold Command R, reset PARAM, etc, the startupdisk set to new Samsung SSD.

However when i finally manage to boot the system, it works perfectly and if i perform restart i do not see any problems. Even if i shutdown for a couple hours it starts OK. However if the system was off for more then 5-6 hours i start having problem to boot it right away. Need to dance with settings , resetting, etc

Does anybody having the same problem ?

Thank you

That's an odd problem. Haven't seen that before. Hopefully someone comes up with a solution here, since you can probably say goodbye to your warranty. I can't see how you'll convince Apple that your boot problem has nothing to do with your opening the iMac and modifying the boot drive.

Thanks, i do not care about warranty, but would like to know if somebody having the same problem and able to fix it

Not exactly a fix for you - but why do you need to shut down, when you might normally sleep your Mac?
My Mac is almost never "off", unless I will be gone for more than a day or two.

Each drive formatted as APFS separated. and Samsung set as startup disk
I have them unfuse, before i swap the SDD

What if anything nis on the 32GB blade drive? Did you re-fuse the drives? If not is the Samsung selected as the boot drive in System Preference > Startup Disk?
