Hey guys,

Finally got my new 27" 2019 imac today. I went for the i5 9600k with radeon vega 48 graphics.

Just though id post a few benchmarks for you guys using heaven on extreme settings.

In order are my 2013 imac (replaced)
2019 580x i5 stock card on top 27"
2019 radeon i5 (upgrade)

Here are the scores.

On a side note, does anyone knw if istat-menus support temperatures for the 2019 imacs yet? i cant get any reading at all with the latest version.

Thanks!

Thank you. Curious do you have any tests for games comparing 580x and Vega 48?

I'm afraid i don't. The only game i play is world of warcraft. On my 2013 mac i had 20fps on gfx settings of 3. now i can play on gfx of 10 with 60 fps (which is max), so a huge difference!

Coming from someone who has a Vega 64 in their iMac Pro, I question if you can actually get 60 FPS all the time on graphics level 10. I found WoW most comfortable at setting 5 to get 60 FPS in all situations.

Surprised it's this low for the i5 with the Vega 48. Is Heaven very CPU heavy or did you run this when your system was still setting up everything in the background like spotlight indexing, time machine, etc?

EDIT: I'm a dumb and looked just looked at the cropped result. Glad I got the Vega 48!

1800 score on extreme settings? I wouldn't call that low. It's nearly double the 580x.

Securitysteve, did you adjust the resolution scale to 50%? By default WoW is trying to render in 5k, so drop it to 50% and you get 2560x1440 which is the proper resolution. Then you will get 60fps as well as notice no difference in gfx.

I believe I have, but I am not sure. I will check when I get home tonight :)

Oh, I just glanced and didn't look closely. I looked at the cropped in result and assumed that was your Vega 48 score. I didn't. know you had others there. Yeah, that seems closer to what I got. Guess it isn't CPU bottlenecked. Was surprised to see that because I didn't think it would be. Yeah, I'm glad I got the Vega 48.

Just checked, my resolution scale was set to 50%, and I was on setting 5. I can set the setting to 10 and when I stand still / look off in the distance in Boralus I get 60 FPS, but any action drops the FPS down to around 50. I imagine in a 20-40 man raid the FPS drops will be severe.

I did my first raid with it last night, i had everything on 10 and held 60 fps all the way through a 20 man mythic raid.
