_Skyfire_: Sorry I didn’t mean / say that you were from the US but I was just saying it’s a lot easier to relay on second hand units or even refurbished (which is not sold by Apple in Sweden, iPhones and iPads is though but their trade in campaigned that has started seems as if they are interested in getting more second hand units for refurbish sales so maybe they’ll expand that market) units, maybe you live in a country were it’s more common.
But sure it’s not impossible!
If I wait I hopefully feel that the new iMac is worth the wait but I must say that I more and more often realize i really could use a new computer. Come on Apple!
By the way. I prefer buying second hand if I can and I bought my last MacBook Pro second hand and saved about $1 000-$1200 (10 000 SEK) and that was of course nice to save but those deals are not always easy to find. And I had to give one of my friends rhe money and ask him to go away from his job and meet this guy when he was working since it was sold in another part of the country and I saint want to send him $1 700-$1 900 before I got the xomputee so it was the only way and it was really messy because we had to do it with so short notice...
I could do that again though if I saved a similar amount of cash and got the high end iMac with SSD.
Sublunar: I’d love a redesigned screen but serious I don’t believe they’ll change it to a curved one without options. I’d were lucky Apple will offer 27” and maybe 32” or I hope for 34” and then maybe have an option for curved that costs $500 at the minimum.
And I’ll not pay them that.
That’s actually something I fear... that I’ll want a curved bigger display but be stuck with the iMac etc. I would of course not complain about there but there are some really nice screens out there now. Saw a 49”.. like 2x27” on the width that would be so helpful.
I’m hoping I could find one that’s like 2x24” or at least somewhere in between them and that also adds to the height just a tiny bit.
So that it’s 1 meter wide and not 1,2 meters but have those 20 cm adding 5-8 cm of height and hopefully it’s a tiny bit curved. It’s used for music not video or gaming so the other specs matters less as long as it’s pleasant to look at just like office work screens but with Apple quality”.
Okay sorry now I’m just dreaming about screens here.
So you’re saying we’re not likely getting a new iMac at a march event.
Sad but not a chock. I really don’t care about new professors. I’d just love to use whatever that the current CPU’s in the Mac computers has to offer without thermal constraints.
I mean I’d have upgraded to the 8 core i9 in my CTO Mac if i wasn’t afraid it would fry it like I’ve read others had to deal with even when they didn’t had the computer. Probably manufacture issue but I’m not paying $500 for such an “upgrade”, besides the high end 27” iMac would probably suit me perfectly fine with its stock CPU. I mean in sound music and my audio interface has its own CPU’s I just want to get away from that, buy another audio interface and start working with the computers processor again because I’m tired of complicating things and I want to get back to the start so bad. Maybe just use some outboard compressor, EQ and effects but always rely on my old favorite plugins and don’t see my computer make a sweat during production and keep latency low etc etc...
Though I’m using it for 3D modeling mostly for 3D print and other hobby 3D-stuff/plans so that’s another aspect but I just want to be able to do these things without issues.
I just want one screen and I would like it to be bigger than 27” because that’s actually a bit too small but I can manage and if the iMac stays the same I will have to deal with it one way or the other.
meow that got a bit long and messy. Hope you don’t mind!
