iMac 21.5 memory upgrade

    The 21.5" iMac has 4 memory slots. That memory in your link does look to be correct. It comes with 2x2GB with two slots open. I bought another 2x2GB modules from OWC and installed them tonight for a total of 8GB. Took literally less than 5 minutes. Super easy. OWC, Corsair, and Crucial seem to be the top recommendations around these forums.

    4 slots, but

    Focker was partly right in saying 4 slots. It is advisable to replace the two 2GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM in your new iMac with two 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM. That way, if you want to increase your memory to 16 GB, you can easily do so by filling in the two open slots. Also, it is advisable to have all 4 slots be exactly the same.

    I disagree. He is better off using 12gb than using 8gb, even if it means unmatched dimms. This assumes, of course, that the OP needs more memory to begin with.
