So I'm very puzzled I have this iMac 24" aluminum 2.8ghz, 2gb ram.
Hard drive was acting up freezing and failing so I replaced it with a new 500gb and run osx which was imaged on a portable HD. When I attempted to wipe it, it took a long time and finally it did not erase the HD. I thought it was a faulty HD so I plugged it into my other imac through firewire and it showed up and erased quickly without any hicks. I turned the machine off and ran osx install again and this time it showed up and I went ahead and installed osx on the 500gb. Everything went good and at the end of the installation it restarted and as it was starting you can hear that song it plays when you first install osx but picture freezes right after it starts but music keeps playing. I ran osx installed on another HD through usb and it booted up fine and the machine worked which is very weird. Any ideas?

decided to just run the hard drive on a usb enclosure. it worked for a bit but finally power supply gave out. turns out problem was power supply all along.
