IMAC 24" hard drive problems

I just sent in my 24" Imac to Apple for a replacement because I had a problem with the hard drive. The computer didn't start up so I brought it into Apple and they said they've encountered a couple cases like that. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Could it start from the OSX discs? The drive may have needed to have been formatted and the system would the need to be installed. 🙂

I've heard of 24" HD trouble, but i've got a 20" so no personal experience
