I'm ready to throw this iMac at the wall... scratch that, at the Apple service technician.

Multiple issues with my 2.4GHz 24" Aluminum iMac. It's been serviced twice now for the same issues and everything is still there!

    Issues:
    - Finder error -600 keeps coming up
    - Finder freezes
    - Pages hangs and quits
    - Superdrive noises (thinks there's a disc to suck in but there isn't)
    - Rejects discs on and off
    - 7 grey reset screen crashes in 1 week
    - iTunes video playback skips
    - AirPort constantly randomly disconnects
    - Screen ghosting
    - Black lines of screen

All these constant issues are driving me nuts! The lines on the screen have been there since I got the computer in August '07.

So far the Apple service car has replaced the Optical drive, the video card and the Superdrive cord. The guys at Computers Now in Malvern, Melbourne have been so rude and always delay the repairs. The first was suppose to be 2 days and took over a week.

Should I just get a replacement through Apple? Suggestions?

    Thanks so much!

Seems your imac has many hardware related problems. Maybe logic board broken? At least memory. Replace the whole imac if you can.

you may not want to drive there or you could ring/email them..... but there is a good place in keysborough called designwyse. www.designwyse.com.au hey specialise in apple products. im buying my imac from them for pretty cheap and get cheap ram installed by them. they are pretty thorough with their fixing and upgrading stuff. dont know how much it will cost tho. but you may get some good advice from them.

    good luck.

Yeah. Two services is enough, if you ask me. If you have Apple Care, at this point, I'd nicely and firmly demand a whole new unit.

I've just gotten on the phone from Apple. I am within my warranty but I don't have AppleCare.

The guy has said they want to send out a technician to replace everything they think needs replacing again which is the Superdrive and video card (both replaced on the first service) and the cords for the Superdrive (replaced on the second service).

I really don't have time for all of this and I just want a new machine. The guy has said that he can't send a replacement until they do a 3rd service which I think is bs.

Should I demand a new machine with him or should I speak to someone higher up and demand the same thing?!

Thanks for all your responses! :)
