Fellas,

Trying to find an answer in this situation.

My old Linksys WRT54G just died and I'm looking for a new router. Everything is Apple these days, so I'm looking at the Airport Extreme.

My tv is hooked up to the O!Play media with a 1TB mediaHD. Nothing is connected with network wires. Since the O!Play isn't wireless, i need the unplug the HD, copy things on the iMac and plug it back in. I wonder if i could be a little more easy?!

I would like to hook up the 1TB MediaTB to the Airport Extreme and connect to the O!Play with a wire! That is possible since there are tubes underneath the floor, which end near the tv.

The problem is that I'm in a rental home and I'm not allowed to drill holes in every wall. That makes it impossible to connect my iMac with a wire.

My question is: How long does it take to copy 1080p mkv files (8gb per file) to my 1TB mediaTB wirelessly? I don't understand all the benchmark stuff on the internet.

Any tips, advice? Thanks! 🙂
