There are a lot of „which iMac 27?” threads. Most people consider between i7 and i9. As if i5 didn’t exist. Is it really that bad? Is this Radeon Pro 5300 a cause?
I though that mid-tier i5 iMac shouldn’t have problems with overheating like i7 or i9. Or am I wrong?

About CPU, you’re wrong. i7 and i9 got soldered TIM, which help spread heat faster.

I’ve seen some posts where people thinking that iMac got 5300m from MBP 16.
Apple should name this GPU 5500 cause it’s 8-10% slower than 5500XT.

Like I said before, for me two best options: 5300 or 5700/5700XT.

Some benchmarks with comparison 5300/5500/5700 :

I bought base model, bought external SSD and it will be great computer for next 2-3 years. After 3-4 year it won’t make difference that you’ve got 5300, 5500XT or even 5700XT because Apple Silione with Apple GPU will be so much more powerful.

Take a look :)

Thank You for benchmarks.
Overheating is my trauma, because I had top-tier iMac 27 2013 and it ended with fried GPU (died during watching the movie).

The i5 with 5300 is a great value, especially if you do not have processor/graphics intensive tasks. People on these threads who compare benchmarks are those for whom max performance really matters.
MaxTech in this video has a good overview at 5:44
