Hi, I'm new here this is my first post. I have XP 32bit running on Bootcamp and was wondering if it is possible to get better flight simming performance either through overclocking or adjusting card settings?

    1. Is overclocking safe for my particular machine? If so, what program is the best for it?

2.Is there a way to adjust my card settings in XP to override the game settings somehow? I've looked into this but can't find anything.

BTW my flight sim (Rise of Flight) is very demanding systems.

    Thanks in advance

You can overclock it using msi afterburner. Just make sure to keep your odd fan revved up so it doesn't cook itself.

It's perfectly safe, just overclock it within reason. The highest I'd go would be to overclock the mobility 4850 to desktop 4850 standards (20% overclock-- 500mhz to 625mhz for core clock and 850 to 970mhz for memory clock)

Yup, MSI afterburner is great, just make sure to change the 'allow unsupported overclocking' in the .ini (i think) file. I'm running my iMacs 4850 core at 634 Mhz and the VRAM at 1022 Mhz totally stable, any higher and I get the odd lock up. Make sure you run SMC fan control as well as it can get pretty warm after a few hours gaming.
