sammy2066 macrumors 6502a Original poster Oct 29, 2009 #5 Exellent. I'm upgrading the RAM on my Late 2008 MBP, so I'll have 2x1GB DDR3 stick lying unused. The 27" iMac should be here in 2-3 weeks. I'm going to get the base 27" model and put those 2x1GB sticks in for a cool 6GB of RAM. 😎 And yeah, I'll put them in as 2GB-2GB-1GB-1GB.

N negatv1 macrumors 6502 Oct 29, 2009 #7 Depends how the banks are arranged. (haven't looked into) In that case keep your (2) 2GB sticks in one bank, and the (2) 1GB sticks in the other.

I was referring more to why do the 2gb and 1gb sticks need to be in any particular order if they are the same speed. I think thats just one of those old wise tales that has stuck through the years.
