Hi dear Mac users,
I'm an audio engineer who works with Avid Pro Tools. My Mac has 32gb of Ram (1600 MHz DDR3) and a 3,3 GHz Intel Core i5 processor. I started noticing when working on big projects and use a lot of plugins my Mac getting slower and sometimes overloads the Cpu.
My question is about trying upgrade the ram more than 32gb. Apple says this model accept a maximum of 32. Anyone know if is possibile to put more ram? 48gb would be perfect. Could the iMac not recognize the bigger memory slots?

Cheers from italy

thanks! I've just finished reading that they talk about iMac late 2015, not my model (mid 2015), unfortunately...

Seems like folks were also able to do it with 2014 models. You could order the RAM and return if it doesn’t work. Shouldn’t hurt anything, the machine just won’t finish booting if it can’t address the RAM, or if it does, the extra ram won’t show up.

What OS version are you on? Ever since Catalina my late 2015 has been running very slow. Another forum stated that if you're using an HDD then Catalina is brutal on disk times. I tend to believe it. If you don't have a SSD installed, I'd recommend that before trying to upgrade to 64g RAM.
