I want to replace the Superdrive in my iMac 27" with an Optical HD bay and fit an Intel SSD which I have left over from my Windows PC.
Apparently there are 2 sizes of Superdrives used by Apple, 9.5mm and 12.7mm thick. Which one is used in the iMac 27"?

    Thanks.

Any idea if the optical drive has a standard SATA or Micro SATA connector?

It uses the one that is standard on slim optical drives know as "slimline". This is not the same as 2.5" drives, which uses the same as 3.5" drives.
