Hi guys,

I was thinking of updating my drivers, and was thinking which drivers to use.

Should I use with the bootcamp drivers adrenaline version (I have read that Jan-Apr versions don´t work so downloaded the 2020 original version) or should I go with the AMD website ones?

What are the benefits from the bootcamp version ones? If I don´t need to overclock right now, are they even worth it?

Cheers

Another quick question.

When installing the new Radeon Software, it asks for a Factory Reset, and it says recomended but also warns you about not being able to roll back? Shoul I go with it?

I'd use the AMD website drivers in Windows. Those will be the latest with tweaks and stability improvements for gaming and pro work. Computer manufacturers rarely keep on top of Windows driver updates like component manufacturers. Graphics cards also get frequent driver updates. Far more than other components.

If I was to go with the adenaline edition from bootcamp drivers, Should I use blue or red

For gaming purposes I've found the official AMD drivers to be superior than the unofficial Adrenaline Bootcamp drivers for the Vega 48. From memory, the official AMD drivers have delivered around to 5-10fps better performance. I haven't tried the newest Adrenaline drivers however, but AMD have released two new drivers for the Vega 48 so far this year so it's good know that there's been regular updates.

Really? I have seen some video of the official AMD drivers being super glitchy with an awful quality, and that being fix by Adrenaline drivers.

Have you tried dec 2019 adrenaline?

I'm not sure why your keep fighting it. So far the replies have been use driver's from AMD's website. Even Apple says to download them from AMD. Apple's Bootcamp drivers aren't anything special. I'd expect Apple doesn't write the drivers and just uses what AMD provides them with. Why would they?

The November 2019 ones seem to be the last ones I’ve tried. I have not had many problems with the AMD drivers. There have been a couple of games that won’t run on them such as Hellblade and Detroit: Become Human which keep crashing but most games run perfectly fine. Tonight I’ve been playing the Witcher 3 and it runs it very well.

Sorry, not fighting nor arguing, but I was guessing it the bootcamp drivers site is bringing out drivers, there would be for a reason, nothing else. I mean even AMD has aknoledged some issues before which had to be fixed, and still some running with some games...

Not arguing with anyone, just curious as to why, rather than just use these and be done

There are always issues with graphics drivers. That's why they keep coming out with updates. They constantly have to be updated to resolve issues with new games and issues that crop up after Windows updates. AMD keeps providing updates for a remakably long time for legacy products too. You can use the ones from Apple. You're just less likely to have issues with games using the latest drivers. Windows update may end up updating the driver anyways. It just won't be as up to date as going directly to AMD. Plus the AMD software won't be up to date. Not that I know if AMD offers utilities like Wattman for the Mac GPU variant in Windows.

Apple, just like HP or any other OEM. Just provides the bare minimum in driver updates in Windows. Unless there is some critical issue being fixed. They aren't likely to make any of the regular updates available. That's up to the consumer.

There's actually a fair number of other components which get regular driver updates from component manufacturers. Updates the OEMs rarely offer. It's just most people don't bother with them. When's the last time you updated your network, audio or motherboard chipset drivers?
