So I got a brand new iMac 5 days ago and I connected my dell 24" (2407) to it..

I seem to have a yellowish tint.. I tried to calibrate it and it still seems to have it on there...

On my pc the dell has a perfect screen..

Any idea what could be wrong?

Also on a side note

Yesterday I go to turn on my new iMac and it wouldn't turn on.. I kept on pressing the power button and it wouldn't turn on.. So I unplugged the power cable and put it back in and nope didn't work... so at this point i am upset i pressed it really hard and it turned on..

So i turned it off and pressed the button again and it seems like it is working again, but why would it do that in the 1st place??

On my dell I notice a sometimes yellowish tint in the few minutes immediately after turning it on, but once the backlight warms up a bit it goes away. However you say this problem does not occur on your PC, try playing around with the calibration settings some more. It took me a while to get my display looking "normal".

Thanks, I been trying to play around with this issue for 4 days :(

Could it be the adapter ? I got it open box... I forgot to say that.

Can you run this command in a terminal window and see what LCD panel model comes back?

Code:
ioreg -lw0 | grep IODisplayEDID | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

Is it a really vivid yellow? My Dell monitor used to do that rarely, all it took was reseating the cable. My mom used my computer once and she didn't do anything to try to fix the issue when it occured and the monitor died for quite awhile. I got it to come back on finally, with a yellow tint, but in order to get a perfect picture I have to bend the cable. Try that

I tried a new cable and same thing.

I had a similar problem with my G4 iMac, except the second monitor had a pink tint. I tried several monitors, several cables, all had the same result... pink tint. Luckily my Apple Care was still good so I took it to the store and they told me it was the GPU. They swapped out the logic board for me and it's been perfect ever since.

This is the same panel I have and the same panel the previous version Alu iMacs used. I believe these panels are made by LG. I don't really notice any yellow tint with my iMac, but perhaps I just don't know what I'm looking for.

Could there be such a wide variation in the quality of the same panel produced by the same manufacturer? Is it possible, as it is suggested above, that this issue is caused by the GPU and not the panel?

Yellow tinge on 2nd screen

I just fixed this problem on my 17" C2D imac.
The display out plug at the back of the imac had come loose, I just pushed it back in fully and the yellow tinge on the 2nd screen disappeared.

Good luck with yours - hope it's that simple.

Hi,

go to displays and choose resolution "scaled" box.

Toggle through the various resolutions and return to default - if it was for eg. 1680 * 1050.
In my case it removed the tinge away.
