Right, so a question that I have been wanting to ask for quite some time:

What is the 4670's performance compared to the GT 130?

Before you redirect me to other threads, here is my reasoning for asking again:

-Most people here have said that it is worse than the GT130
-However, Macworld reported it to get almost identical results in the COD4 test as the GT 130 (here http://www.macworld.com/article/143636/2009/11/imacs_late2009_benchmarks.html)
-I still don't know whether it is:
    --An underclocked mobile card
--A mobile card at normal clock speeds
    --An underclocked desktop card
--A desktop card at normal clock speeds

I want to buy an imac relatively soon, so would rather not wait for ages on the refurbished store for something, but I do want the best possible performance for my money in both games and video editing. Also, I'm in the UK so the refurbished store is much less useful as there are rarely more than 3 imacs available.

It's a mobile version of the card like all the other cards in the latest iMacs (including the GT130 and the current best in slot HD4850). Results per game will vary as I see that card scored decent with COD - but overall it's an inferior card to the GT130. Hope that helps shed some light.

notebookcheck says the 4670 is the better gaming card. The setup on the iMacs may be different from those tests, however.

They are indeed different. I don't want to get into the whole naming schemes of Apple because well, it's to confusing for most. Granted system specs and overclocks can and will play a role game to game and computer to computer, but generally speaking a 512MB GPU is going to best a 256MB GPU.

If it's the mobile version then this article seems to be wrong http://www.hardmac.com/news/2009/10/26/radeon-hd-4670-in-new-imac-is-underclocked
Because the speeds that they claim it has been underclocked to are higher than the speeds of the mobile version at normal clock speeds.....

4670 and gt130 are both really old. both have been replaced by one or two revisions of the chipset. and both are mobile versions, meaning they are either slightly, or greatly slower than the actual thing.

The GT130 is essentially an 8800GS which has similar performance to the 4670 :)
