imac 4gb have a spare 1gb

    i just got a pair of crucial memory in the mail 4gb for my iMac and i dont know what to do with my spare 1gb what should i do sorry if this is in the wrong area...

    Keep it. If you have problems with your machine down the road, Apple may initially try to blame your problems (depending on what they are) on your third-party RAM and claim that they are not responsible for fixing it.

    If you can pop the original RAM back in and confirm that the issue still exists, they'll have no one to pass the buck to.

    ok ill keep it and do you know why when i opened the memory bay it had DUST EVERYWERE

    kind off not that much i clean it every couple of weeks

    lol, my ram slots just had some white goo all over it. it was that lubricant issue.
