Hi guys I'm new to the forum. my first post.
I'm trying to decide which imac to buy for the purpose of using logic pro x.
Would the 21.5 inch 4k retina with i7, 16gb ram and 256gb maybe 512gb ssd be sufficient? I'm not sure how taxing logic is and whether or not I will need a more powerful machine?
Could someone share their experiences with a 4k retina with using logic. Any buffering/lag issues? would a 27 inch be better? having no dedicated graphics cause performance issues? Basically as much info as you have on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

How much are you trying to do with LPX? If you are planning on recording 16 inputs (or more) at a time, it can get taxing (mostly on the CPU). But if you are making electronic music with MIDI controllers and what not you don't need to worry too much. The 16GB ram will give you plenty of room for plugins. Storage will quickly become an issue with a 256GB SSD. Honestly though, if the computer really is just for Logic (and other musical utilities that go along with it), I would probably not upgrade to the 512GB SSD, and instead get a nice external drive.

You don't need to worry about graphical performance in LPX, integrated are plenty capable.

The 4k is not a good buy this year. Either get the 5k or wait until October with upgraded chipset.
