I'm not really a gamer but I like smooth graphics so is the M295X with 4GB worth the extra $250?
If you're not really a gamer, then probably not. What do you intend to use the iMac for?
In order of priority i would say graphics then processor. The 295s used to show up all the time on refurbs, now the only way it comes is maxed out.
How about a flight simulator like x-plane? Not really a game but it's not light on the graphics either. ??
Can't speak for X-Plane, sorry..
bare feats can...
on this game, both radeons scored equally poorly, compared to the 780m... Weird, huh?
I use X-Plane all of the time with my i7 4 ghz Retina iMac. I'm running the 290X and am running the game at many of the very highest settings - stand by I'll show you a screen shot of what this "base" card can handle shortly.....
Okay - just because I'm crazy I decided to film me flying the Twin Beech with one hand on the joystick, occasionally bumping the throttle, filming with one hand and using the mouse with another so you can see framerate performance and what I was doing (flying like a maniac basically on a very windy day and realweather reflected it).
^^^^^^^ That looks awesome.
FWIW, I have the 290 2GB Graphics card and I never hear the fan. Everything works fine. I don't Game at all tho
Here you go:
The Joystick and throttle are the Saitek X-55 Rhino H.O.T.A.S system - works quite well for X-Plane and is about the closest thing I'm going to get to flying short of getting into an aircraft.
