I have late 2014 5k retina Imac (running Sierra). Does it display HDR video (from a video editing application for example from FCPX or Premiere) ? I don't really care about you tube but that would be of interest also. Don't care about NETFLIX but my understanding is because of DRM you can not view HDR from Netflix on any computer anyways. If not late 2014 models what newer models can display HDR? Macbook Pros models display HDR?

The 2014 model does not have the P3 screen so it will display 10bit colour, but not a wide gamut that you are looking for. the newer late 2015 models I believe come with the wide gamut display.

for hdr you need both wide color gamut and high contrast. 2015 imac has wide color gamut (p3) but it doesnt have contrast ratio high enough to be classified as HDR. when they increase screen brightness, it will be able to show hdr video. it remains to be seen if apple is gonna market it as HDR.

So do the 500 nits of the 2017 5k iMac combined with the WCG now count as HDR?
