    Hi all

I'm new to this forum and I just want to see if anyone had this problem before and how did he fixed it?!

So, I have an iMac A1418, opened it to upgrade SSD to 1TB and after putting everything back in place I get a lit up screen, no apple logo and continuous chime...

    I already tried the following:
    1. PRAM reset - still not working
    2. Battery change - still not working
    3. Flex video cable change (because I noticed that when I unplug that and start the iMac, I get only one chime, but obviously no video) - still not working (picture attached with flex cable I changed)
    4. All 4 green LED's on the board are on so it's not a graphics problem, ram problem...

I'm just about to throw it out the windows because it's driving me mad, so any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Many thanks!

    Catalin T.

Have you tried starting up the iMac to Internet Recovery? I take it the SSD has no macOS on it? You'll need to get macOS on there before the machine will do much. Not sure why you get a continuous tone, but see if you can get Internet Recovery working first.

    Tried that and doesn't work...
Tried all the commands with R and P+R and not working.
Also on the new SSD I've installed OS High Sierra from another macBook air and tested it so the SSD is working but my system doesn't ;(

P.S. my system isn't working even with the old SSD on it... ;(

    Hi Dave,

None of these. It seems like it's stuck on the same chime like the first one when you power it up....

Can you get a Genius appointment in an Apple Store? Or maybe locate an Apple Hardware Test disc and connect up an external DVD drive if your iMac lacks an optical drive?
