Hi

Im looking at getting an iMac soon and wondered how i would go about connecting my surround sound system to it. The only connection i have on the system is red and white coaxial cables. However i want the sound to be 5.1. Even if it just splits it (and doesn't go real surround). Any help much appreciated, thanks.

Red and white coax inputs? Not red and white RCA inputs? Unless you have optical input, you can't get digital audio (e.g., 5.1) on your system from a Mac. What decoding algorithms does your receiver have (e.g., Dolby Pro Logic)?

what you can do is get a 3.5mm to left/right female audio splitter. that way you can then connect the speakers to the splitter and thats that.

i am surprised that the logitech system doesnt have 3.5mm in, that would be easier and best quality as i believe you can somehow get 5.1 from it if its a special one with three black rings (which ive seen, although i dont know where from)
