iMac and ACD, putting one to sleep (turn off)

Ok this is really bothering me.

Sometimes when I'm doing work or multi-tasking I want to use both my iMac and my 27" ACD.

Other times I just want to watch netflix or a movie and I don't need both monitors on. Besides yanking the power on my ACD, is there any way to turn it off so I only have 1 display on?

Is your iMac a 27"? If so, just open system preferences, change the output to mirror and just put a cover on the ACD.
