Your machine may have been shipped from stock California, and might *possibly* have had RAM or hard drive added to it if it were a CTO configuration. But even most CTO machines are assembled and ship from China.

Quality is a management responsibility. So, no matter where they're
assembled, 100% of the blame for poor quality resides in Cupertino.

It's pure racism to blame $0.50 per hour production workers for the
failures of 6-figure-salary corporate executives, and 9-figure CEOs.

I purchased 2 20" iMacs for work this month and one of them died in just 3 days(HDD). So we could say it is %50😀 I had to bring the huge box to the store, you know it's a tough thing to do in NYC 🙂
And also i am on my 3rd MBA.

Apple's QC is definitely one of the worst in the industry.

I still have an Apple ][ GS that many of its parts (keyboard, mouse, etc) say "Made in Japan" on them.

Ok they suck. Chines cars are like tin cans. And Jap cars are cheep. Buy a real car made in America or germany or definitely Italy

Back in the days I read somewhere that macs where tested like 48 hours or something where PCs where tested for .. uhm.. shorter time ;D, and that that was the reason macs where more reliable. I guess those days are gone.

Sorry to raise an old thread from the dead, but is Apple currently assembling the iMacs in California?

I recently ordered a new 24" iMac with an upgraded hard drive and the FedEx tracker shows it leaving from Sacramento.

Anyone with an educated guess? 😕

I'm in the UK, so I assumed my mac would have been assembled in Ireland, but no it was assembled in China. Why wouldn't they be all assembled in Ireland if we're right next door to them 😕

I think Apple need to drastically improve their image, otherwise they'll end up no better than Dell.

I'm sure, like all other international companies, Apple has products assembled in several places. It saves shipping costs, it insures that a single factory disaster won't put you out of business, and gives you a chance to ramp up some factories with new products while others keep making the old.

No matter where your Mac came from, I hope you got a good one. 😉

If Apple and other US companies were even remotely smart, they would begin to build manufacturing plants in places like Flint or Detroit, or anyplac else that has been screwed by other manufacturing systems. You just have to keep the people happy so they don't bring in the unions, because that is what has destroyed the US industries. Unions with too much money and too corrupt, pushing many businesses nearly into bankrupcy.

What Chinese cars are you referring to exactly? I doubt you could even name one. What exactly is "cheap" about Japanese cars?

I hope you're not American with that atrocious spelling and grammar of yours. It doesn't reflect well on the American cars you're heralding.

I'm American and I happen to have great respect for the American automobile. That said I have equal respect for Japanese cars which certainly have nothing to be envious of America about in terms of quality.
