I know that a C2D 2.16 20" iMac can only utilize 3.3G memory. Will the 2-2GB memory modules be treated as a matched pair and gain that speed advantage?
Anyone have any experience in actually being able to see the difference between 2-3-4 GB of memory in one of these machines. TIA

I just got the 24" version, and I'm not too clear about all this either so I'm interested in seeing what the pros have to say.

But it's been running so smoothly on just 1GB ram, that I may just go for a 1GB stick to have 2GB 'matched' ram.

supposedly, the White C2D 20 and 24" 2.16Ghz iMacs come with 1 gig of ram but in a 2 x 512MB (meaning both sockets are occupied with a 512MB stick. configuration. The new alu imacs come with 1 gig (1x1gig, leaving the second socket empty).

So if you just buy a 1 gig stick, you would have to take out one of the 512MB chips, so you would end up with 1.5gigs of ram total.
