My trusty Imac bought in 2007 finally kicked the bucket today. you served me well RIP. luckily had a friend who gave me a 17inch MacBrook Pro. It's first gen model but will get me through till I get a new Imac

Thats poopy... what happened? Hard drive? if so... Why not fix that? probably on $200.
 
If is hard drive, get a new one or reformat the actual one.

If is mother board, it would have die in no time.

But just check it, I bet still work just fine with a new hard drive.

Why invest $200 into a 7 year old machine? You don't know what may go next. With a Mac Pro i would understand to keep it going, as those can be massively upgraded and are still up to par with modern machines for most average uses. But a 7 year old iMac? 😕
