Imac Display Turned Purple

It's now fine after restarting.....but what would cause the screen to take on a purplish hue?
I had the computer on all day, and it was sleeping...i just woke it up and the display was purplish....
any ideas why? I had not tried playing with any color display controls or anything.....
I have a new Intel Imac

In System Preferences go to the Display section. Then choose the Color tab. Press show profiles for this display only and select "iMac"
