I have a late 2013 iMac and since beta 1 of 10.11.5, during system shutdown it hangs, that is, the top bar disappears while the dock and the image background are still visible. In each version, beta 1, 2 and 3, I reverted to 10.11.4 and all is fine.
Any ideas? (waiting for the final version is one...)

Firstly, does your system log contain any relevant messages? (You can view your system log using Console.)

Secondly, you should report the bug to Apple.

It's a beta, so don't expect it to run perfectly.

Def report the bug.

Since Terminal is still accessible, you could shutdown by running the following:

Code:
sudo shutdown -s now

Sometime my MBP hangs on shutdown but the above command forces it to shutdown (or restart using -r) without having to hold the power button.

Thank you for your reply. I tried shutting down and rebooting from the command line and it works. Nevertheless I think I going to wait for the final version.
