Recently upgraded my 2020 i7 imac to Tahoe….huge mistake as it bricked my complete machine.
I have tried-
Restoring an older OS however getting nowhere as none will install.

I have tried internet recovery installing the latest compatible OS, it just brings up an error at the end.

I have creating a bootable Os install usb drive but the same situation.

I have done a DFU restore and still every OS install fails at the final bit (from what i understand that is the bit where the T2 chip is used for verification)

I can install via internet recovery Catalina as that was the last os before the t2 was used for verification, so i was told.

So I have Catalina however cannot update via App Store as same situation bringing up the error.

A little stuck now, apple ran a diagnostic over the air and said all hardware looks fine and the fact i can install Catalina means the t2 isnt damaged.

It is a 1tb machine and I was able to copy the 900gb date from disk utility over to a external hd before I did any of this, so also don't think it is a hd issue.

Any advise would be really recommended, apple said it was due to me using starling and apple computers failing the verification stage over starling.....but I think they were just clueless tbh, I also took the machine to a family member with great internet and the problems were still the same.
Thanks guys

Open System Information application in Utilities folder. What is your System Firmware Version and iBridge Version?

I could be totally wrong with this reply.
If so, I apologize.

But... this sounds a lot like the problem folks were having with m-series Macs, when trying to update from 26.4.1 to 26.5 -- and ended up with a black screen Mac that wouldn't boot at all.

What worked for owners of m-series Macs to was to go into DFU and then install a slightly EARLIER VERSION of the OS (26.3.1). That "livened up" their Macs again.

However, I don't think you can do this as there's no IPSW file I can find for INTEL-based Macs.

What I'm thinking might work.
You will need access to a Mac that can run the utility named "Mist".
Get Mist here (it's free):
(download the "dmg" file)

What Mist does:
It will download the installer you want AND create a bootable flash drive in one operation.
Very slick. Give it a try and you'll understand.

It will offer you installers for Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia (and Tahoe, but I'd stay away from there for now).
You will need a USB flashdrive, I'd suggest 32gb or larger. Should be USB3 or USB3.1 gen2.

Once you have the flashdrive, boot from it.
Then...
Open disk utility
Go to the view menu and choose "show all devices"
Select the internal drive (top item) and ERASE IT to APFS, GUID partition format.

Then close disk utility, open the OS installer, and see how it goes.

Hmmm...
You didn't tell us HOW you created your backup.
Did you use a backup app?
If so, which one?
Or are the files just "copied over" via the finder?
(this may become important as to HOW you go about restoring your data).

Good luck
