To JackRipper: Well thanks for the suggestion, maybe I'll question a couple of my Mac friends to see if anyone has anything with this DB-15 connection so that I may test. Also, doesn't the computer check to see if there is an external monitor attached? Well nevermind, I'm gonna go dig up some information about this DB-15 and see where I can go from there. . .

Actually, now that I look around it looks like adapters for DB15 to VGA aren't very expensive or hard to find. Since this is the case I'll try to try that out tonight, thanks JackRipper.

An 'at a glance' way to see if the monitor connector is DB-15 is to count the pins on the male side ( DB-15 had 15 pins ).

If the iMac DV internals work the same as the iMac 233 (rev A) then (from the motherboards perspective) the internal monitor is actually an extrnal.
