There are better drives out there, but in a 2009 iMac it won't matter too much - it only has SATA II, so you'll be limited in speed anyway.

In my country I can only get hold of the transend drive :(

since Brian suggested it's going to be neutered in terms of speed ...that's why I am not keen to order the samsung or crucial and the lot from overseas. Should it matter guys?

All I want is reliability and 30 to 40% snappiness in relation to my current set up.

Thx

hi Guys,

Just installed the transcend drive and I have checked the link speed and it is only 1.5 Gps (i.e SATA1 speed). Shouldn't I be getting SATA 2 speeds?

I have googled this issue and I believe the problem is quite widespread with Nvidia MCP79 chipset and sand force controllers ( which my SSD Has). Unfortunately I can't derive any solution . Any suggestions?

Thanks
