iMac + eGPU + RTX 3090

Hi guys,

Given early benchmarking, how would a 3090 in eGPU handle 5k bootcamp gaming?

would it far outperform the 5700xt?

A 480W GPU will very likely beat a 130W GPU, yes.

But thunderbolt will seriously hit the performance of this board. So I do not recommend. Plus, you won't be able to use it in macOS.
