What would cause my iMac to enter letters into input fields such as spotlight on it's own? Also I hear a clicking noise from the speakers when the computer is acting up. One time it kept trying to open my hard drive. I am running OS X 10.5.6 on a 2.4ghz imac.

How long has this been going on?

Have you opened or downloaded any new applications recently?

    How often does this occur?

Do you have Speech enabled? You might be picking up background noises that are being entered as keystrokes.

I spilled soda on my keyboard when I was like 12 or so and the Z key got stuck down. Of course when you look at the keyboard, everything looks normal, but when you load up a typing program, (Microsoft Word) the Z key goes off like crazy.
