Hi.

I have the late 2009 imac 27" [11,1]

Am running out of space and need some external HDD options.
I currently have a Gdrive like this one..

I was going to get some more of the same and daisy chain.. but then wondered about the eSata port on the back... is there any way I can use this to daisy chain? would be a lot cheaper as FW800 drives are not cheap these days...

thanks

The eSATA port is of no use to you because you have an iMac which doesn't have eSATA ports, and besides that you cannot daisy chain drives using eSATA.

Looking at those GDrives, they are way overpriced... I suggest you take a look here: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/1394/USB/EliteAL/eSATA_FW800_FW400_USB

As you can see, you can get twice the capacity for less money... plus they come with USB3.0, which will come in handy when you get a newer Mac some day.

Thanks... thats what I thought. I was kind of hoping that the controller on the drive allowed it to be used as a port multiplier/hub but it was a long-shot..

its like you read my mind... or can tell the future... or something...
