I upgraded from an i5 to an i7. Everything boots and runs fine but my CPU fan run at max as soon as my boot bar screen appears.

Istat shows temp reading in the 20"sC but my Opitcal fan runs @ 3500 and CPU fan runs @ 3900 RPM

I've reset SMC and PRAM but no change. I'm about to reinstall the image.

I changed it to F and here's what it's looking like. If it's reading low, shouldn't the fans be running low anyways?

Is there anything I can use to control the fans? I've tried SMC Fan with no luck

For now I used a fan control app and idle it all down.

2001 27" IMac with I5 2500s, 16gb ram

I have a spare i7 2600 sitting around so i decided to throw it in. Everything came out just fine and went back in exactly as it should. I'm in the IT field and worked as a PC technician in my early years so I am very comfortable with opening these things up. As a habbit, I dry fit all the components and test power the Imac but forgot to slip the RAM in before powering it so it didn't fire up the first time. But other than that, nothing out of the ordinary throughout the process.

I just open it all back up again and made sure I didn't miss any sensor wire particularly the ODD and CPU.

Those # you see above was when I first powered up the PC. At the moment, The coolest component is CPU @ 95, everything is about 106. and PS is 117.
