Does anyone know if it will be Friday (or earlier) when the first impressions for the new iMacs drop?

There is usually an embargo on any official reviews until the product begins to ship and reaches the hands of customers. Unfortunately, that won't be until the second half of next month, according to Apple.

So far, there isn't a new iMac for anyone to give their impressions of - except a few that are being/have been tested by approved reviewers, and they will be bound by the embargo.

Thanks - I thought it was on the day orders started or ahead of that? For example we got load of AirTag and purple iPhone first impression videos from YTubers several days before people could order them let alone the shipped date.

I am pre-ordering this Friday but does anyone know the exact release date of the M1 iMac in the US ?

(the day Apple store can sell them in store) ?

I'd like to know that date because when the iPhone 12 was released, my pre-order didn't make it. Had to buy it at the Apple Store on launch weekend and cancel my pre-order.

Most recently, my M1 Mini did make it on launch day after a successful pre-order...

They have only said "the second half of May". I don't think there will be a definitive launch date. Too much uncertainty due to the pandemic to give an exact ship date and then miss it.

Hi - I've only seen rumours RE when they will be physically out and in stores (Jon Prosser). Sorry.

I'm wondering the same! I want to see what the colours actually look like in real life. As we know from the iPhone colours the renderings are never how they actually look.

Really the only new impressions will be of the design. Which will be subjective.

Otherwise everyone knows how the M1 Mac behaves. We know the screen will be great like the past screens. And we know the input devices.

And as an "approved reviewer" any opinions should be taken with several buckets of salt.

No offence to anyone lucky enough to be in that situation, but if you're getting preferential treatment from corporation X, expect people to want a second opinion before believing everything you say.

Cynicism is a good thing in this situation, but as it turns out the reviewers who have reported on new Apple products have typically been pretty fair in their assessments - and certainly not always positive. Most of these people are professional journalists who rely greatly on their good name and industry-wide respect. Reputations they would not be able to maintain if they displayed much in the way of favouritism.

Agree. Marques Brownlee has already called the iMacs ugly but he will be one of them getting to view and review it first.

Lol... imagine not knowing the psychology of calling something ugly to attract attention, then flipping the script by the end of it and ending on a positive note... classic marketing trick.
