iMac for gaming

My 2007 Radeon 2600XT still runs games fine. I'll get a new iMac after Christmas, but I'm happy.

Playing F1 2010 at the moment. It's great.

I'm all for people getting PC's for games, but iMacs are fine for games for most people, providing you don't get the base GPU.

imac i3 not bad for gaming

i have the base i3 it the 4670 256mb card. I play bioshock and call of duty 4 at full resolution, and all the smoothing on high. I have no stuttering or frame rate issues what so ever. If you want the newest latest games, why would you want a mac anyway? It takes 2 years to get a "new" game. If you want a gaming computer, build it. Its cheaper and you can upgrade for almost nothing. That's what i learned with the Powermac G5. I had to turn to hacked AGP cards in order to increase any performance on graphics.

I have a 27in Quad with the 5750gpu. I play SC2 and Counterstrike Source, they run perfectly with no problems at all. I play them at native 2560x1440, with graphics settings at Medium. I think as long as gpu drivers get updated and all that you should be fine. If you are getting a computer JUST for gaming then get a PC you will be happier, if you are getting a computer for LIFE and all its necessities and your going to game on it then get the iMac, even though i do suggest the 27in...i have a small desk as well and it does not take up as much of a footprint as you may think

with my imac 27" i7 i tried starcraft 2 on ultra graphic in 2560x1440. i was a bit choppy(30fps), but steady fps. but the game has too low texture resolution so it was like a zoomed look. the solution was to play windowed, then i got 60fps never dropping lower. my problem is that the windowed ress is fixed at 1400x900 or something like that. but that better than my native because of the games low ress textures. the game is not ment to look good in more than 1080p ress. sweet spot looks like its 1600x900 on my desktop windows computer monitor.
