iMac G3 DVD Drive

Hi. I have 2 iMac G3s one 600Mhz (CD Only) and the other 400Mhz (DVD Drive). I would like to take the DVD Drive from the 400Mhz iMac and put it in the 600MHz iMac, can this be done? Does the 400Mhz model have any special software or other hardware that allows the DVD to play?
 
It should work just fine. Getting to the drives isn't that hard. Wish I could find some slot load DVD drives cheaply, or maybe a slot load combo drive.
