Hi guys,

I have a non-working iMac G4 model 15", 800mhz, 256mb, 60HDD. There are different imac g4 models and was wondering which are compatible with mine. Will a 17"/800mhz work? A 700mhz/15" will probably work? What about the 1ghz/17" model?

What about replacing the cpu from a 700mhz/15" model with a 800mhz cpu?

Will appreciate any inputs. thank you.

You should be fine with using the 15" 700MHz board, I am not too sure with using newer model boards, as Apple tends to change internal designs a lot.

You have more guts than me if you want to change the CPU, I dont think I could do that.

Now i know what you mean. i just opened mine and it looks like the cpu is directly soldered to the logic board. :(
