I just received my iMac G4 with 15" LCD screen through eBay.
When I switched it on, the screen only showed a picture of broken glass.
Yet when switched off, I cannot see any signs of cracks anywhere.
Can someone tell me what this means?

Thanks in advance,

Robert

That the actual LCD is broken.

Thanks

Well, only a few options left. Get my money back because I suppose it may cost too much to get a replacement screen. My G4 is an 800 GHz one with 60 GByte HD and 512 MByte RAM.

I am running an G3 iMac at the same time, running fine.
If you have any idea what I can do, replace the LCD screen etc.
My main experience was with PCs. Used to build, repair and upgrade those things. Changing over to Apple.

Replace LCD. It's easy to do and not expensive if you'll find screen for cheap.

You'll only need one tool - hex wrench. 10 screws to remove, some cables to disconnect and reconnect et voila, you got working LCD :)
If it was damage on delivery, ask seller for refund your repair costs.

Alternatively, you can use your iMac with external display (mirror only) using miniVGA to VGA adapter.

Hi, were you able to replace the screen..... I have an issue with my screen, not broken, but I think it is the glass panel ....not the LCD.

Any feed back from your experience would be much helpful....

This my screen...it's only visible
