I'm eager to get my hands on..... yet another 1.25GHz G4 iMac to recondition, but shhhh...... don't tell the wife!;)
Just seen an ad for a 20". It's described as, "The iMac doesn't start up, when the start button is pressed, the fan runs for two seconds, then switches off, then nothing."
For those familiar with these G4 iMacs, any guesses if this problem is most likely to be a (partially) defective power supply or motherboard problem? Or other?
I may have a replacement power supply from a 17" 1.25GHz G4 iMac, would this be directly interchangeable with the 20" model?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like a PSU issue to me.

No, the power supply from the 17" 1.25GHz is not compatible with the 20". The 20" uses a different size PSU (IIRC both physically and electrically), despite the connectors being the same.
