COMPUTER - APPLE IMAC, 700 MHZ, 512MB RAM, 40GB HARD DRIVE, 15" LCD FLAT PANEL, DVD-ROM/CDRW

going for $400 at my school

anyone think 700 mhz will be too slow?? i really like these imacs (i'm a sucker for the old imac g4s) but i think these will be too slow, no?

just use it for the basics and you should be fine. see if you can max out the ram to keep things running smoothly.

I have the 800Mhz model. It is still quite competitive, especially with 1GB RAM. I got it in 2002 for R28000 ($4200)😱 And I love the way the screen floats in mid air!🙂 Steve said when it was released, that it wouldn't look out of place in a home even in 10 years. I think that was accurately predicted. Although I don't use it much anymore, prefer my G5 isight!😀

Awesome buy, the design is stunnning true classic, doe that price i'd jump on it....Just upgrade the RAM and you got a sweet little machine...And yes 700mhz G4 is fine for basic stuff and everyday usage(iTunes, browsing etc)...

Yeah, that G4 will do all of your everyday tasks. I bought an 800 MHz model with 768 MB of RAM. I'm still surprised how fast it is.

Don't buy it. Huge waste of money. You won't be satisfied. Your money will help fund terrorists.
Anything to keep you from buying this machine... because I want it! 😛

I'd buy it.

Heck, I still use a 400MHz (384MB RAM) machine daily, a 700MHz G4 will do just fine with 1GB RAM. Plus, $400 is very low for these models (the G4's), I still see some going for closer to $1,000. Then again, with it being a school machine, I don't know how good of condition it's in.

But the G4's are amazing computers, so go for it.

ill never stop using my 700 iMac i absolutely adore it, i use it for Photoshop and Illustrator on a daily basis plus browsing etc.

everyone who sees it wants it, and cannot believe its coming up to 5yrs old

i only have 768mb of ram inside, upgraded the DVD-rom to a DVD-r and its still quicker at "some" tasks than my GF's 2.6 P4

certainly a future classic
