I have an iMac G4 800MHz with 256MB factory installed memory.

I've recently bought a new memory SDRAM 512 MB SODIMM PC-133 and installed it in the slot following Apple's guidelines. Everything clicked properly but when I turned on the computer and run System Profile the slot shows as empty, like no new memory was installed.

Can you please help me?
Did I buy a faulty memory or did I install it wrongly?

thank you

Have you tried to reinstall it? You really need to push the chip in pretty hard.

SODIMM user slot memory not showing up?

Same problem as below with the same model iMac - SODIMM installed in user slot and it's not showing up in system profiler.

I replaced the internal 256MB with a 512MB, this seemed relatively easy compared to that process.

Any ideas why it's not showing up?

Thanks for any input.
