I have recently upgraded my imac g4 to OS 10.3.9 (panther) and yes I realise this is in 2012! basically all the web browsers are too old to use with pages like facebook or youtube and I pose the question, is it best to just upgrade to lion and pay the money -.- or is there a way that I can get a certain web browser than not only allows me to use modern websites but also to be downloaded onto such an old mac. HELP:confused:

First of you will have better luck if you post on the PowerPC section as this section is for the "elite" intel powered iMacs ONLY :)) JKJK)

But to answer your question, Lion won't work on your system. From Snow Leopard and up it requires intel CPUs and a lot more RAM capabilities then the G4 can handle.

Your best bet is to upgrade to Tiger at best and download Camino, Tenfourfox or any other 3rd party browsers that will bring you up to speed.
