The iMac's a more "solid" computer, but the Mini will last longer. Just buy at least 512 MBs more RAM if you do get the Mini.

Get the Mac mini. You can find a CRT, mouse and keyboard on ebay and total about $500 to $600 whereas all the upgrades in the iMac would easily make you pay about $700 for a machine. Then you are in eMac terretory.

Is the price of the Mac mini with some sort of discount? The Mac mini cost at least $499. Or you buying this off a someone else or is it new?

Get the Mini and stick in a 1GB stick of RAM.

The mini will probably last longer (assuming it doesn't get lost or eaten, they are very small) but the iMac is prettier IMO.

Definitely upgrade the RAM in the mini though, as everyone has been saying.
