Hi I bought a wonderful G5 Powermac 8.1 with OSX 10.3.9 in it.

Because I need wireless internet, flash and google chrome, I have purchased a install/restore generic DVD with OS X 10.5

When I restart the iMac with the Disk 1 in it, I arrive to select the language stage, after which the error comes This software cannot be installed on this Mac.

I have 1.8 GHz and 512 Mb...

Can anyone help?

Thanks Forum.

Edoardo

You'll probably have to reformat the hard drive first in disk utility.

Edit- If the disk is gray (which I suspect it is) and doesn't say your specific iMac model on it, then it will not work with your computer.

Thank you note

I did that and now I can only see the OS X 10.5 as a disk can't see the previous one anymore

Correct, it's a generic gray one. Which DVD do I need? A black disk will work?

As per your comment on the HW, I WISH it would play music...

Thanks a lot
