Nah, never happen, not bold enough, that second version is just a mutant gen 1 iMac. I think the new iMac is basically going to disappear into its own screen as rumoured.

This is where computing is heading. The processor box with drives and motherboard and fans etc etc is an artifical construct forced on us by historical technological limitations.

Soon it's going dissappear into the interface, which are the bits you can't compute without, which are the screen and a keyboard & mouse if its not pen or voice driven.

And the odd thing is, that's all a computer really is in most users minds, it's funny, this is often seen when the user has a problem with the processor (a crash?) they take it out on the screen (whacking the interface!). They seldom whack the box!

Many graphic representations of computers just show a screen and keyboard.

Perception will become reality here, its just a question of where exactly the clunky great optical drives are gonna go.
