The iSight is really small. I would think a new version, for those of us without the new iMac would be coming out soon.

Aaah Geek Porn.

One of my favourite sites. I wonder how they afford the kit, and you rarely see the reassembled photos

Why did the guy HAVE to put a watermark all over those pics, like he doesnt want ANYONE using his photos of the inside of an iMac?

Good job on posting something like this quickly.

I ordered a 20" 2.1Ghz iMac G5. The new models are not as clean inside as the old model. I guess because consumers are not supposed to open the new model (it has a special compartment for RAM).

I like the older design better. This new setup looks very odd and laptop like.

I agree, I really liked the old version, but with these new pictures it really does look like a laptop screen.

If those are real pictures of the new iMac insides, I am very disappointed in Apple. It looks like they just threw the parts in the case and closed it up. When I opened my iMac to install more ram, I thought it was one of the coolest things I had ever seen. I spent probably 10 minutes just looking at it and following wires and noticing all the little touches they added.

I have heard that the new ones are very quiet. I could care less for the insides to be pretty if the imac is loud. I would much rather a quiet imac and a jumbled mess of wires beneath the cover. They have a 17" imac out at the Apple Store in San Antonio. The screen looks alot better. The increased brightness and contrast ratio made a huge difference!!

Odds are, the rev a/b's more "convenient" design had something to do with the heat issues; apple wouldn't have dropped it for no reason. As much fun as easy access is, it's not all that necessary on the imac, and sacrificing it for system stability seems like a fair trade to me.

Thanks for the info.

I ordered my iMac 20 on 10/21/2005 from Amazon and the ship date is still 12/21. I know it will change soon now that Apple is starting to ship them.

The infrared is in the iSight lens too. They should have a firmware for the external iSight(s) so you can use the remote (hopefully with the new app) for it!

Radical.

Yeah, I also prefer the old iMac G5 interior. In the last one you could make sense of the design and layout. It's really difficult with this new one. I liked exploring my iMac's interior too. I live in a dusty dorm room so it's time to check it out again. :D
