It played but was a little jerky. Also typing to display on the screen is sluggish.
2.1 G5 iMac with 512 MB OS 10.4.11

But here's the pisser. My G5 not 2 hours ago went into again what is called thermal shut down. I was playing a flash game and boom it just shut down completely and no fans at all running. Weird. A few years ago it had a problem where it would lock up and then just shut down all by its self, and then the fans would run like all hell.

G5's Flash and HD do not mix obviously. 480P on my imac is unplayable at all. Maybe 5 frames a second. 720p just locks it up.
Sometimes I wish mine would just die or "Someone would nuke it from orbit!" or something. That way it would be done and i would be forced to buy something instead of just letting it die a slow death. I hate things having to suffer. Poor little iMac. BUT a new current version iMac is not going to happen.

I really want to start playing around with 1080p Video. I have lots of ideas and subject matter to shoot. BUT having to buy a Mac Pro that does not come with BluRay just to edit the stuff is really wearing on my nerves.

Get FVD for firefox and download the video's MP4 file format. Flash just all-around sucks.

so as suggested i tried flashplayer 10.1 beta 3 , video still plays in window but oh hell cpu usage went up from basically around 70% with flashplayer 9 to 88% hitting 90% with the 10.1 beta 3:eek: i could live with it but its not ideal , so guys at adobe go back to your computers and start coding again ,maybe you can drop it another 10% and could get a level of cpu usage for such a simple thing as flashplayer , 75%-max 80% that would just be acceptable, but i still prefered the level between 64% and 73% in flashplayer 9

It could be your internet connection.

Just helping my parents sell their iMac G5 2.0ghz with new 500gb hd and 2 gigs of ram and noticed, almost horrifyingly, that since they recently upgraded their internet to digital, that their computer is fast as lightning.

(And just had them get a new Mac! They didn't really need one -- it was the internet connection! They had cable internet before this...)

Don't feel bad, my Mac mini 2.26 with five gigs of ram could not play that video in HD. I've got DSL. Bet is the network, not our computers.

The G5s in the iMacs are 7 year old technology.

They’re still perfectly capable technology and speed.

Just uncheck the option “Load plugins” in Safari, running an old G4 or G5 and see that the web browsing experience is as good as on a recent Intel Mac.

Not to mention the G4 and G5 machines boot faster than the standard Mac Intel configurations and use 50% less RAM when booted and the only thing they’re missing is Spaces or Time Machine. ;)

Mine plays it in 720p @ full screen and I noticed a few dropped frames :(

Don't have any issues with iTunes 1080p trailers though but those aren't flash ;).
