It sounds like it's worth a try thanks. But how do you open an .hdimg?
I am not sure, but try copy it to USB disk with dd command.. something like dd bs=4M if=morphos.hdimg of =/dev/sdX
But easiest way howto install MorphOS is download .iso and burn it to CD.

OK, I figured it out. But it's not booting. No distro is. Except mint but it does not boot after install.
If you seek linux distro, it is not so easy today.
Fienix: best distro if you beginning with linux. Easy installation. Try it.
DebianSid: experimental Debian is still maintained for Powerpc big endian, but installation is a little bit tricky. Not every snapshot is suitable for installation. You have to search through Mailing list.
There is older topics about it.

Ok I found a stack of rewritable dvd-rws so I burned morphous to a blank dvd and it booted to blank white screen.

OK I got the Fenix dvd to load. Will reply again if the installer actually installs.

OK I got to detecting hardware. Then some firmware files were needed. I said no to having the media. Then I selected the timeline. Then detect hardware again was showing. Then was time to partition. But it only shows 1,2,3,4. No number 5 where my second partition is.

If you have MorhOS DVD and boot to blank screen, it should be one of this problems:
- DVD was downloaded / burned with errors. You can also use CD instead DVD/rw, basic system is small enough.
- DVD drive in your iMac is old and read with errors
- you have other type of iMac G5 - supported is only version "iSight". It is the only iMac G5 with Radeon X600 XT/PRO and with camera.
- some other hardware problem.
MorphOS supports iMac iSight, I have one and it works OOTB from CD.

Pls, post here picture of your partitions - both from Fienix and your other system.

I had to wipe the drive clean. But I got fienix linux running.

At exactly 18 minutes and zero seconds

It says Running Pressed. Its hard to see but that is that is says. My G5 was stuck at 17 percent for hours. I then turned it off and back on and it booted to the screen with name and password.

I saw this other video. He said the default name was fienix and the default password was fienixPW. I tried that and I am in now. But then this popped up and not sure what that means.

It's not important, it's the application menu that crash, for me half of the time crashes until was changed for the lite one, you can change it in the panel configuration.

Thanks, now I just need to figure out how to install a browser.

OK I figured it out. Right click on top or bottom menu and add to panel. Then add brisk menu + compact menu + classic menu + run application.

Under menu say ALL then right click Synaptic Package Manager. Say pin to favorite menu and pin to desktop.

The run package manager to install other software. But it ask for root password. I have no idea what the root password is. What is the root password?

Never mind I found it here. The root password is root AdminPW.

Then it asked me for the cd when I tried to install arctic fox browser. Luckily I had burned the CD to install from because usb was not working. And it was the correct cd. So I inserted the cd and then it installed.

Now arctic fox is loading and I am on the internet. How cool.

Except when I goto atariage.com and click on forums it says my browser is out of date.
